Basics

Verset is a visual workspace for connected notes and work. Each note is an entry. Entries can contain other entries, so a subject can grow from a short idea into a clear map.

Move around

Use the arrow keys to move the cursor between entries.

To open an entry's children, press Tab while it is selected. Press Tab again to close them. You can also select the small number on the right side of an entry.

Hold Alt while moving the pointer to pan around the canvas.

Edit an entry

Select an entry and press Enter to edit it. Press Enter again to save, or Esc to leave editing.

You can also click an entry's text to edit it. When an entry is selected, Shift + I and Shift + E are quick ways to add or edit.

Create and organize

Use the + button below an entry to add a child.

Cut and paste moves entries:

1. Select one or more entries with Space.
2. Press Cmd/Ctrl + X.
3. Select a destination and press Cmd/Ctrl + V.

Copy and paste creates a duplicate instead.

Use Cmd/Ctrl + Up or Down to reorder the current entry. Add Shift to move it to the top or bottom.

Write with Markdown

Entry text supports familiar Markdown:

*emphasis*  **strong text**  `code`

You can also add fenced code blocks.

Ask AI

With an entry selected, press Shift + 1 to ask AI to think about it. Start with a small question, then use a larger request when you want research or a more complete report.

Keep work in view

Open the Work Center when you want to review Active work and Goals. Its main view is Overview. Use an Instant Chat when you simply want to start a conversation right away.

Find things

Press / to search the current entry and its children.

Press Alt + O to search across entries and jump to one. In the editor, type @entry to reference an entry or @file to reference a file.

Next

Try creating a small outline: a topic at the top, a few child entries beneath it, then move and expand them until the structure feels right.

Start the interactive tutorial again

If you want a fresh copy of the interactive tutorial, open Profile from the top bar and select New tutorial. Verset creates a separate tutorial project and opens it for you.
